I recently made some registry changes in XP. Now, when I click on a .doc file, it tries to install Office, rather than starting up Word. Word is still installed. When I click on it from the Start menu, or navigate to its folder and click on winword.exe, it starts up without a problem.
I tried deleting the file type association in Explorer and creating a new association, browsing to the folder and specifying winword.exe as the program to run. It still tries to install Office when I click on a .doc file.
A solution would be appreciated.
