I am in the process of moving from Excel 2003 to Excel 2010
In Excel 2003, I have added a custom button to the toolbar called 'T1', and recorded a macro called temp1.
This macro is then assigned to button 'T1'
(I also have T2 - T10, but if I can create one I suspect I can create them all)
So if I record a sequence of actions to a macro called temp 1, I can replay these actions with a single click of button 'T1', which is really useful if I have to do the same edits to 10 identical spreadsheets.
How can I replicate this in Excel 2010?

Select the View ribbon. Under Macro (on the right side of the toolbar) choose Record Macro.

I managed to record the macro, where I am stuck is adding a button to the toolbar, and assigning the macro to it.
The link you gave shows how to add a custom group to the developer tab, and add your macro to it.
To run the macro will take 3 mouse clicks, where as a visible button on the toolbar with an assigned macro can be run with a single mouse click, as in excel 2003
That is what I am trying to do

Hi,
Am nearly there, have got a button added to quick access toolbal, with macro temp1 assigned, and if I hover the mouse over the button, the text 'T1' pops up.
But in Excel 2003, you can change a button from 'default style' to ' Text only (always) '
Then you see T1 T2 etc on your toolbar, not a row of random buttons.
If I can do this, I will have what I have always had in 2003
