Word97 doc map

Hi, I know I have an old one. But I have a long (166page) doc I use every day. So I've been saving it as another name occasionally as a backup. Well I lost something in it so I opened my backup to copy that part back in. I think my backup doc is ok except the document map is all messed up. Any reason besides the length? It's gotten so long the auto spell checker won't highlight the errors anymore.

I use it to copy and paste answers in a forum I work on.

have a look at this link, http://support.microsoft.com/kb/168804

It is limits associated with Word 97. I didn't look all the way down the list, and so didn't see anything about page limits, but how about file size? Is yours over 38 MB?

Do you have other backups you can try?

I see the maximum file size is 32MB, not 38.

I have a hard time converting kb to mg. My main document is 1,527KB and the backups are only 1,350KB. But I may have added to my main one since I did a save as. That isn't anywhere near 32MB, right?

Like my main doc is called TT 2011 Answers.doc and
the Save As are named TT 2011 Answers BACKUP Feb20.doc

1,527.00 KB converts to only 1.49121 MB, so it is not file size.

But there may be other factors/limitations in that list that could be relevant.

I'd try how a later version of Word, or the current version of OpenOffice or LibreOffice (its 'successor') handle that file.
