Powerpoint - how to make master text editable on slides?

Hi, I have set up a number of slide masters in my presentation with different colour fonts. However I want to be able to edit the text on each new slide individually when generated from a master. I tried adding a placeholder but it defaults to the text colour and size on each new slide. Any way around having to copy and paste the text box to each new slide? Thanks
