Arial font in Word has changed to italic...

My operating system is Windows 7 and I currently use MS Word 2003. Just recently, my Arial font has change to italic on the screen in Word and I cannot change it to regular font. When I go to Format, Font, it only gives me the options of Italic, Bold, and Bold Italic. Normal is no longer listed. I have no idea why it would have changed or been deleted. Any help would be appreciated???

- Have a look in your Windows\fonts directory. If it's not there either, find a copy somewhere else and install that.
- Is it available in other programs (like Wordpad, LibreOffice Writer)? That would point to some issue with Word or one of its add-ons or normal.dot.
- Is it available in a newly created Windows account? That would poiny to some form of corruption of the account of your normal.dot file.
