Excel (2011 -- version 14.0.1) Lag Delay

Early 2009 Mac Pro with 2x 2.26 Ghz Quad-Core Intel Xeon, with 16GB memory, and 10.6.5 OS.

Since "upgrading" to this latest release of MS Office, I am experiencing a distinct pause with each Excel action. The delay is about 1 second, and is incredibly annoying.

As usual, MS comes out with another pricey "upgrade" that messes up all my carefully determined settings and gives me very little in terms of product improvement.

Of course, that makes me the idiot once again falling for this nonsense.

Anyone else experiencing a pause?

After posting above, I discovered the lag/delay/pause only occurs in some Excel spreadsheets. Perhaps I need to convert those that exhibit the problem?

Still wondering if others are experiencing this.
