Outlook Express 6 spell check

I had a problem with Microsoft Office so I deleted and reinstalled it. Now when I type out an email in Outlook Express it spell checks every word and tells me they are all incorrect. Its not one or two words, its every word. Simple words like "the" and "and" and they aren't in the dictionary. Whats going on?

Check your Dictionary in Word

OE uses the Word spell checker, so open up Word, Tools > Options, then check through that you have the right dictionary listed.

If I remember rightly, (I don't have Office on the machine I am using now), if Word doesn't have the right dictionary it might be on the Office CD.

Outlook (Word) Dictionary

When I open Word options and scroll down to proofing I noticed that I have to change to a custom dictionary. I choose English (U.S.), put a check mark in the box CUSTOM.DIC(Default)and OK. Underneath the custom dictionary tab it says "French modes:" and another tab "Traditional and new spellings". Anyway, I changed everything and it still is not working correctly. Most words I type are not even in the dictionary, even the words spelled correctly. Any idea?

Spell Checker

I found when I open Outlook Express, click on "Tools", "Options", click on the "Spelling Tab", go down to "Language" it is set for French(France). It doesn't give me an option to change it as it is the only language listed. How do I get English(US) in there?

Try the Office CD

See if you can add the wanted dictionary, or remove any unwanted dictionary, using the Office CD.

I took the easy way out and downloaded a third party program which worked. From everything I read you cannot get Outlook Express to change to English.

There must be a way for OE to be fitted up with the Office dictionary, but you found your own way, and if that works for you then that's great.

Spell Checker

As soon as I ran it I went to Outlook Express, typed a message and check the spelling. Everything was spell checked in English. It works like it should.
