Office & productivity software forum: outlook 2007: receiving multiple copies of email I sent

Outlook should have an option somewhere to "Delete messages from the server", once they have been downloaded.

It will be in Tools > Options somewhere. Is that option selected?

I don't use my web account option much, so I can't be sure.

But what I know is that, once an email has been deleted off the POP server, it has gone. So, if there are emails you want to retain on the server you should not set the option in Outlook to delete it from the server. What I don't know is whether you have the same options, (ie to delete from the server), in the web based display.

I've just re-read your first post, and I realize that you are talking about having sent an email message out from your web based account, and you are/were getting that one back through your Outlook client software. I must admit I'm stumped by that. The copy of the email you sent should be held in the web site, but why would the POP server then send that copy to your Outlook software? Unless you have added your own email address to the list of email recipients, (the CC or BCC addresses).

Swapping between web site and client software is always problematical as they are at the same time identical, yet different. What I mean is that they do the same job, but they don't synchronize.

What about this. Make sure all emails are downloaded to your web based account. Then, with the browser still open and you still logged on to that account, open Outlook 2007 to do the necessary work you have to. That way, if Outlook is set to delete from the server, it only deletes the ones your web based page has already received.

It's clumsy though.
