Outlook 2003 crashes when adding attachments

I have a work colleague with the above problem. She has a an AMD Athlon XP 1.9GHz machine (XP2600 I think), 512Mb RAM, 80Gb Hard Drive (1/2 full) running Win XP Home Edition and Microsoft Office Small Business 2003. When she clicks insert attachment or email to from the file location she does not have time to add the attachment before Outlook shuts down, sometimes even less time. It comes up with the report error to Microsoft message but does not give an error code. If an email without an attachment is sent, no problems. She has run Outlook Detect and Repair which says it was successful but the problem still occurs. She does a lot of photo editing etc using Photoshop Elements so some extra RAM probably wouldn't hurt but don't no if this is causing the problem.I'm told the machine has got slower of the last 12 months (slower opening programmes etc) so maybe could do with a clean out. She has the original Office disks so maybe a reinstall might help??? There is mention of a similar problem on the net but haven't found a solution yet. Any advice anyone may have would be greatly appreciated.
