Office & productivity software forum: sorting numbers in Microsoft Excel 2003

May not be the best or the most economic way, (in my own time), but I would input all the raffle ticket numbers first. That way there is no sorting to do.

In a column next to each entry I would input "Not sold".

Then, as each ticket is sold I would change the corresponding "Not sold" to whatever details are needed.

It would need dressing up a bit, but with that I could print out a list of it all, showing tickets sold and tickets not sold.

Or am I missing something?

I don't see why you couldn't use the normal Data>Sort menu options. Can you explain?

I am very new to the use of Microsoft Excel 2003. I don't know anything about the sorting function. I will have to investigate it. The reason we want to put all the contact information into the spreadsheet is so that we can print it when we are done and take it with us to where the tickets are being drawn. That way as the tickets are drawn we can look at the list and find out who the winners are. I thought about just listing the numbers in order down the side, but then with every ticket you have find the number of the column before you fill in the information. If I could just enter the information as I go not worrying about what order the numbers are in and have Excel sort the numbers afterword it would make it much easier. I hope that explains what I am trying to do.

You don't have the person's name on the ticket when it is drawn? Most raffles I have been in have me put my name and information on the ticket to be drawn.

In Michigan we have very strict rules in raffles, what tickets can look like, how they are drawn, etc. So maybe rules are different where your raffle is being run.
