MS Word 2003 Header Problem

I am having a weird problem with MS Word. I am running Windows XP Professional on a Tecra A4 laptop.

When I open a document in Word or when it starts on a new blank page the cursor is above the header at the very top of the page. If it is an existing document the type is at the top. If I pick "View Headers/Footers" and close it the cursor or type move down to where they are supposed to be.

I have tried deleting the Normal.dot file in all its incarnations; it did nothing. I have uninstalled and reinstalled Word. This cleared it up for a few months but then it began happening again.

I have not found any clue to this problem anywhere. Please help.

They had no printer driver installed. It behaved oddly like that.

Same Problem - No fix yet

Ellen, our DellC521 w/Vista is doing the same thing in Word 2003.

I've tried searching the web - no luck for a fix.

Our system has a printer driver installed, however: my suspicions are related to the printer drivers as well. When I loaded my printer drivers onto the new Vista machine, they never worked right necessitating a download of new printer drivers, uninstall and reinstall. I'm suspicious when Word 2003 installed, the printer drivers were not healthy. I'm fearing the solution is an uninstall and reinstall of Word 2003 on top of the (now healthy) printer drivers.

Anyone have anything better before I go through that?

Here's what I did so far

I checked with our IT guy and made sure all the print drivers were updated. I uninstalled and reinstalled all of Office 2003 Small Business Edition. I restarted the computer each step of the way.

Final outcome is it's still doing it.
