Underline problem

Hi Tech Specialists,

I having a problem with Ms office 2003 Word. When selecting a word in a word document for underline, it underline the whole page/document when I click the ''underline'' icon. This happen for the ''bold'' and ''Italic'' icon as well. How do I resolve this so that it would only underline, bold, or italic the selected part/portion?

PC info.
os: XP pro sp2
dell pc

A few questions:
1. What changed on your system since it last worked correctly? If you know it, undo it and see what happens.
2. Did you try System Restore to that time?
3. Did you try Repair or Uninstall/Reinstall from the Office CD?
4. Did you try to delete (or rename) the default template normal.dot?

If none of the above works:
5. Record a macro to go to the start of a document (ctrl-home), select the first word (control-shift-space) and underline it (ctrl-u) on both your machine (where it doesn't function) and another one (where it does work) and compare. Post your findings.
