Word 2003 Bullet Lists Not Consistent

I am a law student and use my computer to take notes. I use a lot of bullet and numbering lists so I tried to create my own. I created one, setting the symbols and indents, but I cannot get it to be static throughout all of my documents. When I create the list and give it a name, I apply it to "Normal" and I also give it a keyboard shortcut. However when I open up a new document the shortcut doesn't work.

This is also the case when I assign text format (Bold and 14pt) to a keyboard shorcut.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You didn't tell how it was not consistent. As to the new document issue, that may be easy to solve. Create a document with your settings, but blank for content. Save that as your original then add what you want but save the new file as another name. To start a new doc, open your blank doc.

Some rail against Word for it's penchant to reformat a document from machine to machine. Here's why it does that. Word takes information from the video and printer drivers and the document can be affected by this. If this is bothersome then you need to stop using Word and obtain a type setting program.
