Problem with footnote formatting

Hello there, I have a problem like this.

I have a .doc document and I use footnotes. All was fine but suddenly all my footnotes appear to be malformatted. There simply seems to be one additional linebreak between the footnote line and the first footnote.

When I display formatting (the button with the character that looks like pi) the extra linebreak is visible there, but I cannot edit it. It seems to be connected with format of the line.

Can you help? Please happy

Well, is there or isn't there? Only you can tell. My guess: there isn't.

First, use Tools>Options>View and set it to show all (normally not displayable) characters. You'll easily see if there's a paragraph mark or a new line (an arrow like on the enter key) in between.
Then have a look at the Footnote style to see if there happens to be defined a distance of 6 or 12 points before the footnote in the paragraph properties. If so, set it to zero and see if it makes a difference.

I would call a superfluous paragraph mark or new line character an 'additional linebreak' indeed. But a property to space down a few points before the line isn't a linebreak, just a lay-out property. And that's my guess.

There IS an additional linebrake, of course I've checked whether there is space before the paragraph, you know, like 6 or 12 pts. The paragraph style is perfectly ok, but there IS an additional linebrake after the footnote line that CANNOT be edited.
