Best way to upgrade to 2000 from win98?

I'm considering upgrading to windows 2000 from Win98. What is the best/easiest/cheapest way to do this? Thanks. Ed.

Usually no upgrade.

It's been a few years but I do the clean install as no drivers or much survives any upgrade I've performed. So boot the 2000 CD and install.

Thanks Rob. Yes, actually I was assuming I'd do a clean install. Now I'm considering upgrading (installing) to XP. I just posted on that forum. Can I just install XP on top of 98 to change the OS, keeping my programs, etc., as is? Maybe you could answer on the other forum. Thanks again. Ed.

Win98 was on FAT, 2000 barely supported that and XP moves even farther away. So in my opinion no, but folk should try it and see. We only lose what we don't backup so nothing much to lose here.
