Server 2008 Password help

Not sure this is the right forum, if not please direct me to the proper forum. with that said: Running Server 2008. not using active directory, using simple Authentication only.
We need to use complex passwords which we are, but need to have them expire every 90 days, is there a way to do that if we are not using AD? Everything I have googled deals with AD.

Most would be thinking about the clients and passwords on the clients.

I know someone that tried to do this without AD and the business folded under the strain of workers that could not get to the server. Their business depended on the server being up and access during the call.

Why anyone would avoid AD for this is amazing given the downsides. I can only guess some IT staffer is new.

Thanks Bob.
I wasn't clear, when clients machines boot up and sign on, they have personal folders mapped on the server. And what mgmt wants to force password changes every 90 days. Probably a GPO, but the question is are those features available without invoking AD?
Mgmt did not want AD set up as there are only 5 people accessing the server. Regardless that was their desire for no AD. So I'm stuck with it.

I can't guess what clients there are but you have this bad issue to deal with now.

How to sync the password on the client and the one on the server. This is exactly the issue that killed a small business.

AD takes care of that!

Now you have a fine challenge. One that I could craft scripts and more but not for free. It is that complex.
