MS 2000 Server - hard drives

Hi! I am wanting to add additional hard drives to my Proliant ML530 server. I am running out of space. I was told if I add u320 drives to a U3 SCSI array, it will cause the U320 to drop down to U3 performance. Then, if there is an existing array all drives will reflect that of the weakest link.

I am not familiar with what U3 means? Currently, I have 4 hard drives installed, two of which are in use, the other two are mirrored.

Can anyone help me?

Yup. But why is this any issue? Why not get the right drives but bigger?

What is U3? Read from http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=ultra+3+scsi since I don't duplicate ready web content.
