VPN connection through PDA

Hi All,

I am looking to connect my PDA having WinCE.net 4.20 OS with my coorporate network using GPRS of my PDA. But unforyunately I am getting an error
"A connection between the VPN server and the VPN client 202.69.15.20 has been established, but the VPN connection cannot be completed. The most common cause for this is that a firewall or router between the VPN server and the VPN client is not configured to allow Generic Routing Encapsulation (GRE) packets (protocol 47). Verify that the firewalls and routers between your VPN server and the Internet allow GRE packets. Make sure the firewalls and routers on the user's network are also configured to allow GRE packets. If the problem persists, have the user contact the Internet service provider (ISP) to determine whether the ISP might be blocking GRE packets."

Where on my Server I am using Windows 2003 Server and a default OS VPN Server functionality is also running on it.

Kindly advice if any one have any idea or done this before.

That are 2 things:
- If there's a router or firewall in between that's not configured to allow GRE encapsulation packets (protocol 47).
- If your ISP (that's your wireless provider in this case, like Verizon or AT&T) is blocking them.

And what does the corporate IT dept say about this problem?

VPN Issue

Hi Kees,
Thanks again. Sorry Kees my corporate IT Dept have no idea about this. they just made a connection with my laptop and is working fine. but when we are trying to connect through PDA, this error is occured in my VPN Server machine events log.
so I feel that may be there is any possibility to enable this protocole on my server machine. using any command.

And the laptop works wirelessly with the same OS (Windows CE), the same VPN-client and the same telecom provider (like AT&T)? Or wired inside your LAN with another VPN-client. That makes a lot of difference, of course.

Many ISPs block VPN ports and open them for a fee. Be sure yours are not blocked.

You didn't tell (or I can read where) your laptop works ok via the internet.

Hi Bob,
Thanks for your post. Yes i can connect with my laptop. and I have also check with my ISP they told me that they are not blocked the GRE port.

Can you connect from your laptop wirelessly via VPN using the same ISP as your PDA does?
Or only wirelessly with only in-house WiFi-equipment?
Or only wired?

Has the IP-staff already decided what PDA's to support with what providers? Most companies select one or two that they manage to get working and are considered safe enough, and then let the users use only those. Standardization is the key here.

Hi Kees,
Yes may be this is the point, let me check, because my PDA is using different ISP than my VPN server where my laptop and VPN Srver has a same ISP.
