Mac will not boot up.

When I start my Mac Powerbook G4 OS 10.4.11 the screen goes Black and this message appears.
How can I fix or bypass this problem.

/etc/master.passwd: No such file or directory
-sh-2.05# FWOHCI Error trying to clear PHY ports.
FWOHCI Error trying to clear ports.
FireWire (OHCI) Apple ID 31 built-in now active, GUID 000d93ff fe319f46; max speed s100.

Start up from the discs that came with it or

from a Mac OS X installation disc.

If you boot correctly from either of those, you are on the way to reinstalling the OS and going back to having a working machine

If that is the case, then I'm afraid

you are attached to another object by an incline plane, wrapped helicly around an axis.

You need to be able to boot that machine from a source other than the internal hard drive.

You could try booting while holding down the Shift key. That "may" take you into Safe Mode but you still need to fix the problem
