Please help! Wifi at 4 bars but can't connect to internet

I'm a college student with a dilemma: I have to upload an assignment (the library is closed) but I can't connect to the internet. Ethernet doesn't work either. I know that this is not a problem with the network because I live at school and it would be chaos if the Internet went down, and I'm able to post this question with my Kindle, which connects no problem. I have tried every fix I can find including: renewing dhcp license, deleting and reentering connection, and plugging into ethernet, and running diagnostics, which tells me my ISP has failed. None of my programs can connect. Firefox says "server not found" and safari just won't load anything. I'm getting desperate. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance. I use a MacBook Pro (13-inch Early 2011), Mac OS X (10.7.3)

Ethernet doesn't work either.

Time to put it on some memory stick and ask for help from others while you wait for your support to kick in.

Forget the network that doesn't work and try other hot spots.

It works in the library, but I need it to work in my dorm

I got through the short-term problem of uploading my assignment by going to the library (which didn't open until noon today), but I need to solve the problem so that my computer works with the network in my dorm, which is where I do most of my work. I haven't heard anyone else in the dorm say they're having a problem, so I'd like to troubleshoot and fix. Thanks in advance for any help anyone can offer.

What if it's not your computer at all?

I've seen such networks that support say 32 users and you are #33 and can't get on. I've seen folk try to fix such things.

That's why I strongly suggest you take this up with the school IT inside of messing up your machine trying to fix it. It's obviously working but why not at that location will be something the IT staff will address.
