Mac OS X forum: Error message - opening for first time

Error message - opening for first time

I have a new iMac which, when I open applications for the first time in a session, gives an Apple error message, "You are opening the application, ****, for the first time .....". It doesn't always do it but there are some apps for which it does it every time. I have to click OK to open the file.

How do I get rid of the message?

I can't believe that nobody on this forum has even a comment on this problem. You guys have always been so knowledgeable and helpful in the past. One of the most annoying aspects of this OSX message is that I can't open any apps at boot-up - they all fail at the error message.

Try resetting LaunchServices by doing a

/System/Library/Frameworks/CoreServices.framework/Versions/A/Frameworks/LaunchServices.framework/Versions/A/Support/lsregister -kill -r -all local,system,user


in Terminal.
