Installing Leopard 10.5 Mac OS

Hi I am currently running MAC OSX 10.4.11 on an older G4 - 933 MHz PowerPC G4
- 2MB L3 cache
- Memory 512 MB SDRAM
- 370 free Gigs space...

I fit all the system requirements (unless I'm missing something) and I put the ORIGINAL 10.5.4 Leopard apple install disk (which I purchased from private seller) and it said "THIS SOFTWARE CANNOT BE INSTALLED ON THIS COMPUTER."

What am I missing? Is it not working cuz it needs to be 10.5 and not 10.5.4????? Very confused here and would like to upgrade so I can update my browsers! Can you help enlighten me?

also I would like to point out that the disk has a grey label and says Mac OS X Install disk MAC OS version 10.5.4

and is almost certainly NOT for a 933Mhz PPC G4

what you have there is a Restore disk. These disks are machine specific and performed a quick check to see if the Gestalt number of the machine matched the number on the disk.
Failure to match results in the message that you see on your computer.

Although you will find, usually on eBay, sellers that claim that these disks work on every Mac, take that with a pinch of salt.

Keep searching for a disk that specifically states the G4 and 933 MHz PowerPC.

Meanwhile, try to get your money back on this one.
