How do I turn this off? an error message keeps popping up that I have to cancel out of -- very annoying! THANKS!!

Go to system preferences

Network and check that none of the settings mentions PPOE.

How do you connect to the internet?

is via wi-fi/airport. there is an AT&T connection listed from my old address so I went into that and disconnected it. should that do it?
