I am very happy with my MacBook 5,1 (silver unibody, late 2008). It still looks like new. I have misplaced the original OS DVDs.
OS: 10.5.8 (Leopard)
Processor: Intel 2 Ghz Core 2 Duo
Memory: 2GB 1067 Mhz DDR3
Processor Speed: 2Ghz
Boot ROM Version: MB51.007D.B03
I have ordered (8 GB (2 x 4 GB) memory 1067 Mhz DDR3 (as it seems now to be the official limit only for this model).
The OS works fine, but I ordered the $19.99 Snow Leopard..
I only have one third party software and it supports versions of OS X to current.
How easy is it to upgrade?
When I get the 8GB memory, could I, or should I upgrade to Mountain Lion?
Would Mountain Lion run as fast as my Leopard runs now, given the processor is still 2 Ghz Core 2 Duo?
Is it a good idea?
How easy is it to upgrade Snow Leopard to Mountain Lion?
Open to ideas. I know its an old computer, but I really love using it and it still looks like new, and besides the upgrade will still be cheaper than buying a new computer.
I hope to have provided enough information to get an informed response and/or suggestions.
