I have a MacBook Pro with OS X 10.7.5. My husband uses my older MacBook Pro with OS X 10.5.8 Intel. When Hotmail/Outlook updated in Nov. 2012, mail continued to open on the newer computer. However, we can't open it on the older computer. We sign in and get a weird screen that won't respond to clicks or open mail.
At a website (answers.microsoft.com) it said that the Hotmail Engineering team has identified the issue with the Safari 5.0 browser and working on a solution in a future update. They suggest using a different browser for Mac, such as firefox or chrome, but when I tried to do that, it didn't appear there were downloads for 10.5.8. I also tried downloading a new flashplayer as that was one of the suggestions.
I think that the idea that we can no longer get mail until they 'fix' the problem is a lame....thank goodness we have more than one computer and one that works for mail. If updates aren't going to work on all computers/systems, they shouldn't do them, in my opinion.....not getting your mail until they do another update could be a real problem for many of people.
Any help/suggestions offered are greatly appreciated.
