Things to know before changing memory in Mac

I am about to remove the current memory in my Mac and replace with more memory...do I need to save information that is on my Mac first somewhere externally before i do this? I am referring to pictures, files, etc.

We only lose what we don't backup.

Are you telling the world you don't have backup copies?

While such an upgrade is usually a non-event, the fact that you don't have a backup copy is worrying.

Haha...don't fret...it is only my home computer and I do save pics every year...there isn't anything on here that would be life threatening if I lost it...so are you confirming I don't need to do anything at this time? I can just remove them as instructed and place new ones in?
