DUH, why didn't I think of this? My brain just locked onto Mac OS X and stuck there.

I too suffer from lock on syndrome. Members here help me by correcting my mistakes and slapping me around when I'm stuck.

-> By the way, if you ever want to get really deep under the skin of Mac OSX, start researching BSD. It's where it all started.

I know the background of Mac and BSD but have never really checked BSD over.
