Mac OS X forum: Cleaned out trash and lost iphoto

One wonders why these pictures were doing in the trash to start with but we'll just have to accept the fact that they were.
Drag the pictures out of the trash and put them in a file on the Desktop.

What makes you think that you have lost iPhoto and System Preferences?
Can't see them in the Dock anymore?
If so, that's not a problem, those are only alias' anyway. Open your hard drive and go to Applications.
Inside there you will probably find iPhoto. Click it and drag it back into the Dock.
Repeat with the System Preferences app which is also in the Applications folder.

Now launch iPhoto and see if you have any pictures in it.

Tried that and copied the pics/and other junk to the new file, can sort them later.
Iphoto is still in the dock but when i click it theres a question mark that appears in the middle of the iphoto image.
No iphoto in mac hd applications along with system preferences.
Im pretty sure i deleted them, but not sure why they were in the recycle bin in the first place?
Theres a place in Maidstone that specialises in mac computers so i will try and ring them tomorrow.

I reckon its gone
Have looked in the spotlight bit and it can find all the photos in a recovered file which is good but no iphoto itself.
If i just buy the iphoto app will that do the job?

Right bit of searching and managed to find the discs reloaded the apps and osx disc, system preferences is back, iphoto wont load just the spinning circle.
But im heading in the right direction so thats a good start.
