It's a sure thing that anything that relied on Rosetta will fail. Would those be what you call "classic"?

Classic programs require System 9 to run and that has not been available on Mac's for a number of years.
What you are referring to are those programs that are not coded for Intel or Universal Binary. These programs require Rosetta to run on an Intel machine.
There are a couple of methods to determine what applications you have that require Rosetta.
1. Open System Profiler (about this Mac + More) and scroll to Software > Applications. (This method is not always reliable) All the programs with Intel or Universal Binary next to them will work with Lion.
2. Right Click an application & Get Info. The first line is Kind. If it reads Application(Intel) or (Universal Binary) it is Lion compatible.
