10.6.8 and Time Machine Problem

Time Machine has been running fine until yesterday when I did the 10.6.8 Combo update and rebooted. Now I get the message:

The backup was not performed because an error occurred while copying files to the backup disk. The problem may be temporary. Try again later to back up. If the problem persists, use Disk Utility to repair your backup disk.

I have used Disk Utility, Onyx, TechTool Pro, and none of them find anything wrong with the backup disk. Everything continually checks fine, yet Time Machine repeatedly gives that error message.

Did something change in 10.6.8 that would affect Time Machine? How can I find out what the problem is and fix it?

Error copying files to backup disk

Perhaps you should direct your attention to the source of your files ie your Macintosh HD.
I had a somewhat similar problem which I finally diagnosed with TechTool Pro (Validation error encountered, extents File (B-Tree).
The odd thing was that I had to run Disk Warrior to fix it.
My Time Machine backup has been running a treat since. It had been a pain up to that.
Much relief knowing that my HD is error free with Lion is imminent.
Further proof that in deciding between DW and TT....get both!
