Can someone please tell me where iPhoto pictures are stored in Finder?

but I have done a search and cannot find a folder called iphoto. I have also thought it might be among the albums, but cannot find anything there.

To my mind, one of the drawbacks of Apple over MS is that by right clicking on a file you can open the enclosing folder - but it doesn't lead you to where the folder is. Right clicking a file in MS not only enables the enclosing folder to be opened, but that shoes where the folder located.

I have just found that the lead to a file is at the bottom of the Finder screen.

I am, however, still puzzled that, even now when I have found the iphoto in folder, when I click on that, it opens iphoto but still doesn't lead me to whereabouts in all the folders the pictures are stored. I would have expected a long list of my pictures to exist somewhere viewable in Folder without opening the iphoto application

Take a look in your Pictures folder

there you will find the iPhoto folder and the iPhoto Library.

Inside the iPhoto Library you will find a whole bunch of pictures.

Caution, messing with the inside of the library will cause unintended consequences.

This is the database that iPhoto uses to organize your pictures into alblums, smart or otherwise, and do a whole lot of other things.
As I said before, iPhoto will manage your pictures no matter where the originals are stored.

My fault was that I was right clicking and clicking on "open". I have spotted the "show folder contents" option , which is where I wanted to be.
