27" iMac can't find wireless keyboard

I have a apple extended wireless keyboard that's @3 years old and my new imac can't find it. Does anyone know if Snow Leopard and my old keyboard is compatible? I assumed bluetooth would be a common wireless connection. Thanks.

Did you ensure that the old one was made discoverable?

The keyboard was turned on and even installed fresh batteries.

A few weeks ago I thought I saw a firmware update for the wireless Mac keyboard? Maybe something then maybe nothing.
