Possible reason for the rejection of the Optical disk is that the Optical disk reader is defective.
Can it read any disks?
When you say that you have the correct disk, what does that mean? What correct disk?
Have you tried a commercial DVD in that reader?
Have you tried any other type of disk.
The Preferences will only ask you what to do if the disk is a blank Disk.
It is not unusual for an optical reader to fail on just one function, reading a blank disk for instance.

Thank you for getting back to me. I have had two others say the same thing about the Optical Driver. I have tried other discs including the one that was sent with my Mac and it makes a noise, but then pushes it right out. I have tried a commercial DVD and nothing happens. When I say the correct disc I mean that I went to the apple, about this Mac, more info, disc burning, and then checked what type of blank disc this computer will accept. So I guess it is the optical driver...ugh they are so expensive...lol.
I appreciate the help.

You never told us what type of Mac you had, laptop or desktop, and the price varies with that difference.
If you are willing to go with an external optical reader, you can get by with less than $100, usually a lot less.
Internals for the MacBook run between $84 and $147, depending on the actual model of your laptop and between $37 and something outrageous for the desktop, depending on your model.
An external one would set you back $64.99

I didn't say the type of Mac I have....sorry....MacBook 10.4.11 (does that help?). The reason why I said they are expensive is that someone had sent me a link to Apple and when I looked at them they were about $200.00. I like your options better. The ones that you are talking about is their a website or is it still through Apple? Also, do I have to send my computer some where to have this problem fixed?

Depending on which MacBook you have, you may be in line for the cheaper one.
Bear in mind that none of those prices include installation but, believe it or not, as long as you are real careful, changing out one of those is quite easy.
