Files Not Moving to Trash Prior to Deletion
by kalantan - 11/7/09 12:16 PM
I have a MAC Pro (2006 vintage; 8 GB RAM) with 4 internal drives running the latest OS. Two of the drives are in a dual RAID configuration - this is used as the System drive. The other two drives are used for iTunes, movies, FinalCut caches and general file storage.
The trouble is deleting files from one of these two drives: When I delete a file from the System drive or one of my outboard drives, the files are moved to the Trash for later, permanent deletion - as normal. However, when I try to move a file from one of the general storage drives to the Trash, I am warned that the file(s) will be deleted immediately and that the operation cannot be undone. This works, but I would rather have he traditional Trash behavior.
I have called AppleCare regarding this issue (twice). They told me that this behavior is normal for internal drives and to just live with it. HUH? When I point out that the System drive and my external drives exhibit standard Trash behavior, they stutter, put me on hold and come back with the same answer.
Any suggestions will be greedily tried...
