Mac OS X forum: Image Capture not working anymore

I've tried deleting the Epson scanner driver, deleting Image Capture's preferences, and even deleting Image Capture and reinstalling it using Pacifist. The 26 ghost icons still haunt me.

By the way, this is in 10.5.8.

Alright so heres the fix for anyone else who is extremely frustrated with jerks who start threads and don't finish them...

1. Disconnect your camera physically from the USB port

2. In Image Capture go to the Tab "Devices" then "Browse Devices" uncheck your ghost camera, then it should pop up with a "no device connected" notification.

3. reconnect your camera physically on the USB port and turn it on

y voila works the way it should, your welcome world.

there is a certain moral obligation to do so.

Having started the thread and explained, in two posts, what you had done to fix the problem, it would have been a common courtesy to explain how you fixed the problem instead of just stating "Never mind; I fixed it".

These threads stay around for a long time and, as one poster noted, your question receives the top Google hit when people are looking for the solution to the same problem that you had.
Not supplying your solution to the problem, even though you were asked immediately after you made your post, was bound to elicit negative responses.
