I have a new MacBook and yesterday I was installing a few bits of software to try and convert avi's to DVD (including VisualHub, DivX player and ffmpegx) and now it is taking ages for my Mac to startup...
I have a grey screen for about 1 minute, and then the Apple logo appears, and about 10 seconds later the circle appears and goes round, then 30 seconds later my Mac has started up.
Up until I installed these programs my startup time was really quick and the Apple logo would appear straight away.
I have uninstalled these programs, but start up is still slow.
I have tried presing command-S when switching it on and then entered 'fsck -y' (saw this advice on another forum), but that hasn't helped...
I only have 3 login items and none in the startup folder in Library.
Please can you helo me, as I am new to Macs and have no idea what to do!
Thanks in advance
