Had my hdd replaced, now my processes are unfamiliar

So i sent my laptop into my college's technology service desk and asked them to find out why my computer was overheating and turning off while i was gaming.
before on start up, in task manager i could only see small start up and installed program processes, which would use about 15% of my ram. now on startup it shows processes for my wifi card and a few other things i have never seen in the 3 years ive owned this machine. i'll get a screen shot up soon, but with my computer like this i cant run any game even on low graphic and resolution settings. this is very irritating because it was operating fine before but with occasional crashes with medium graphics and high resolution.
even sitting here with 3 tabs open on chrome im using 50% of my ram...
Im just looking to find out how they replaced my hdd wrong and communicate to them what they should do to fix the problem, since ive been back to the desk a few times and still get the crippled results back.
