BOOT DISK ERROR

Alright, so I am trying to fix my little brothers computer. Serenity T3100 . We are trying to install Windows 7 onto it and all we are getting is the boot disk error. Boyfriend knows a lot about computers but everything he has tried has not worked. It is getting very frustrating. Just wondering if anyone knows of a way to deal with this. So, once again, right now there is NO operating system on it -.-

http://www.canadacomputers.com/product_info.php?cPath=7_124&item_id=044459 shows a very small drive but let's hear more about what you are trying. Tell more, such as I booted linux and am copying the .ISO that I got from Firegate.com to the drive. Details matter for the forum to see what step is amiss.

We are using a copy of Windows XP now, and instead of getting the boot disk error now we are getting "NTLDR is missing" :/ But every solution we've looked at always involves already having an operating system on the computer.

there is NO Operating System on the hard drive but you are getting originally a boot disk error and now a "NTLDR is missing" error with XP.

Tell us a bit more about EXACTLY how you are attempting the installation and what type of installation media you are using. Some upgrade media does look for an existing OS and NTLDR is a file often looked at.

Also double check that you are set to boot from the CD/DVD drive as the First Boot Device AND that the installation disk is already in the drive when booting (AND with XP that you aren't trying to install to a SATA drive without loading the SATA drivers at the appropriate time when asked for them or that the BIOS is set to emulate IDE.

XP to that machine should get you NTLDR is missing.

XP does not know about SATA drives and because that's well discussed I'll stop here on that.

Tell more about what Windows Vista or 7 DVD you have.
