You had a new toy and you probably loaded this or that, so check to see what really isn't needed. I have no clue to what's loaded via s/w what your use is. If you simply don't use or gotten nothing from some s/w installed, delete or uninstall it, period. If your "apps" are numerous, reduce the number these ALL take resources from the PC. Further, any app should be serious reconsidered again not only for use but any nefarious use the maker has inputted into the s/w, because many times it's tracking your usage, so check online what if anything is known about any app or pgm.. Next, you have limited resources, if your Win8 PC can have added ram, install it.
Check online or the maker's support website to check what other users have experienced. Sometimes, a popular laptop/netbook just doesn't cut it. It's either bad manufacture or released w/o proper consideration for "heat stress" which is a killer and/or drag on operations. Make darn sure, you use the laptop on a hard surface, blocked cooling vents, etc.. isn't good.
