Hello CNET forum. This is sort of a long post so bear with me for a minute here!
So, a few days ago I started having this issue with my PC games. A severe drop in FPS has started to occur. My PC is capable, although it is a laptop, of the games I play.
My laptop is a ASUS K53SV, I have been able to play games like Battlefield 3 or Skyrim at decent frames per second. However, now, I will open a game, it will start high at around 120 frames per second, then drop to an unplayable 7-20. The graphics card it has is a Nvidia GT 540m with an Intel core i7 2630QM.
I have tried updating my drivers, re-flashing the BIOS resulted in it saying something like "the BIOS you have selected is too old for the system," Doing a system restore did not solve the issue despite changing it to a date before this happened. When I contacted Asus support, they told me to download a Driver from 2011 saying that it would solve the issue. It did not.
I've been getting pretty annoyed with this issue and I've tried so much to fix it.
Any thoughts? Thanks for reading in advance!
