Single-boot with 2 Boot Partitions?

Hi guys,

I am trying to install Ubuntu on my family's PC but I want to hide that partition, so i can only access it by going to the boot menu in BIOS. I want the computer to single-boot so it goes straight into windows, as if the hidden partition wasn't there. The computer does get defraged so I want it to be hidden there also.

Is it possible?

The stock install can give you the boot to either OS but for what you want, it's not a stock install and you should jump into the Ubuntu forums to ask if anyone has a ready to use install procedure to do exactly what you want.

Defrag in Windows should not touch the other file system so I would be guessing why the odd install or feature request.

problems attaining what you ask for.

Look this boot manager over and read through the tips and see if it gets close to what you desire. It does support true hiding so partitions simply don't show up in Windows.

And I don't see any reason to use this over GRUB, EASYBCD or other solutions that don't cost a dime.

The whole package Boot-US (GUI and DOS command-line version) with all accompanying programs (boot manager, etc.) may be used in the non-licensed version on private PCs for free. This allows a broad usage of the program. Public schools may also use the non-licensed version of Boot-US for free. "

The OP wanted a hidden partition and Grub and EasyBCD don't hide partitions so they are truely hidden from other Operating Systems - they show as what they are or as unrecognized formats.

It actually offers a lot that the OTHER solutions that DON'T COST A DIME do not provide.

I want it so at boot up it goes straight into windows (no evidence of ubuntu install)and that the partition is hidden from Disk Defragmenter
