Why am I not recognized as the administrator in Win Vista

Sometimes when I'm making a change to the OS in Windows Vista, I'm told that I need to be the administrator. I am the only user on the computer and User Accounts shows that I am the administrator. I even enter a password to startup. So why do I sometimes get this message?

But it's how this OS works. Some folk think it should not ask again but this is how the OS was designed in an attempt to be sure that changes don't occur without you accepting them.

That's my answer. It's asking "are you sure?"

Thanks for your reply. I understand your point, but when the message comes up, there's no provision for confirming that I am, in fact, the administrator. What do you do next?

it is a real pain in vista and 7 but you have too right click on the .exe for the program, then properties click, run as administrator and if needed in compatability mode as well.
