unwanted search engine

I was downloading a screen saver and got a message from Norton that it stopped a virus so I cancelled the download but then I noticed that I had this toolbar and the search engine from Conduit. I've checked your forums and a lot of people have had this happen. I need instructions on how to get this off my computer. I already went to uninstall programs and deleted everything that I could find. I know I'm missing something but not sure what do to from here. I have Windows 7 home with Google Chrome as my web browser. I also did a system restore with no luck. Went to the register and deleted the conduit file with no luck. Help me Obi-Wan you are my last hope.

If You're Using Firefox...

Then click on Tools-AddIns, then remove it from there.. In addition, run the freeware version of Revo Uninstaller from the link below, and it should remove it from all other locations as well. When running Revo, be sure to only select those items which are related to Conduit.

help with finding virus

Thanks for the info. But I don't know what I should look for. When I went to my registry I looked for Conduit and found it and deleted it but I don't know what else I should look for that is connected to it. Are there certain names or something? I apologize but I've only had a computer for 2 years and this is the first time this has happened so I am not an expert at this. I want to make sure I get everything connected but I am afraid of deleting something important.

Does Conduit Still Show Up In Chrome?

Unfortunately, you haven't told us the specifics. If you've already cleaned out Conduit from the registry, there should be no need to continue there.. If it's not showing in any of the browsers, then you should be fine.. But if it's still popping up in Chrome, then you'll also need to look in Chrome's "Add-ons" section and remove it from there.
