I have a Dell Dimension 4100 Computer. Has XP. I realize the is not a new computer but it is well maintained. Has been fully cleaned by a pro tech 4 times in 6 years. Fresh install of XP 9 months ago. Never a problem. Runs like a champ. Heres what's going on. I power it up. Sounds the same as it always did. keyboard lights up and responds. Monitor remains black. Yellow light remains on monitor. If I turn monitor on button turns green for 15 secs and then goes yellow. If I press one of the setting buttons on monitor a message appears: In power save mode press any button on keyboard or move mouse. I did this. nothing. Also right and left clicked mouse. Nothing. Pressed F8 and F12 on keyboard to try to go to safe mode. Nothing. Connected computer to another monitor. Same thing. Connected Monitor to another computer and worked fine. Checked all cords and connections. All are fine. If I unplug the monitor while connected to tower with power on the monitor lights up and Dell logo comes on for about 30 secs. Then goes to power save message and yellow light comes back on monitor. Dell says if you pull the power cord out of monitor and plug it back in this will solve the problem. I did this and it did not work. This computer is very important to me. I use it for online college classes. All my school programs and files are in the computer. I have an online class tomorrow evening. i will be thankful for any help. Have a great day!
