Please Help! Mozilla Firefox will not connect to Internet

I was on the internet this morning and went out for a few minutes. When I urned the computer back on, I could not connect to the Internet with Mozilla., and I keep getting and error message from Norton. 8504,104.
I was on the phone with my ISP and I can connect thru IE; but I prefer Mozilla.
And I cannot even do a Norton scan.

Please help. I have a laptop wih Vista!

Try booting to Safe Mode

It sounds like you could have a virus or other malware. Get your antivirus program up to date and boot into Safe Mode. Note that some viruses can hide themselves from your antivirus program in normal mode, so you really need to scan in Safe Mode. To get into Safe Mode when you first power up, hit F8 about once a second until you get the menu and select Safe Mode. Then run a full system scan.
If you can't get your antivirus program to run in Safe Mode, download one of the free programs like Avast, AVG, or Microsoft Essentials, uninstall Norton and then install the free one and see if it will run.

You can check for corrupted system files. Open an administrator command prompt and run SFC if the above doesn't help. Click START, then type CMD in the search box, right-click CMD.EXE and click Run as administrator. Then from the command prompt type sfc /scannow.

Thank you for all the help. I tried the Microsoft, but it would no work because I was not connected to the internet.
I tried a scan of a malware in safe mode but nothing was found. I just did a Norton reinstall uninstall and that seems to have done it! (I was going to download that and the AVG and do another safe mode)
