Changing Mp3 File Details

I have some mp3 files that I'm trying to change the details
of but when I'm done the changes aren't there.
I click on the the properties of the mp3 file I wanted changed, click on the details section, add the song title and artist and click apply but when I go back in the info is not there. Is there a reason why it's doing this?
I never had this problem before but it's only doing this
on some of the mp3's.
I have a jukebox program that I use to random play my mp3
files and if this info isn't there then I won't see the song listed.

I downloaded the Mp3Tag program and this is changing the details that I want.
It still puzzles me why I wasn't able to do this without this program.
