Need help with drivers I believe - comp crashes etc

I know I don't have the correct drivers, My pc used to be so much better when I first got it but now it crashed a lot, it cant handle high teck games & it lags. I have an ASUS CG1330 Windows 7 64bit which is for gaming. I have hardly touched my computer with anything for 2 years. Can someone help me restore my computer back to normal? sad I don't even know where to start. my pc is already cleaned & defraged & such. I would love to just restart with everything but I don't have the cd's that came with the pc. I tried downloading the driver for my display adapter from the manufacturer website but it appears to be not working. I was able to download an old one but I have no idea what im doing.. prolly making it worse. please help me D:

Windows 8 drivers came out a week ago for my system, Would things be fixed if I just upgraded? like my drivers & such.

Going to Win8 is no guarantee it will work either. You need to know 100% what your PC is. Otherwise, you'll be doing this or that as a guessing game. I suggest you get PCWizard 2012 and install it. Thern review it's finding and proceed to get whatever driver for that product, etc..

The main source of support is the vendor or maker's website. If not there or if you can determine the product model#, like Intel chipset, mtrbd. model#, or Nvidea Ge-8xxx, etc., you get the proper driver or support for it. This applies to Win7 or Win8. If you install something and it doesn't work, then de-install before moving on to the next driver, etc.. -OR- use the restore feature to go back prior to install.
