Cracked (looking) Monitor?

I'm not sure what caused this really... One moment, I was using the laptop fine. I closed it and placed it beside my bed when I was finished, and then my brother came to use it. He opened the laptop up however and it looked like this:

It looks, obviously, quite broken. The monitor itself is not cracked, but whenever the laptop is opened it remains on this shattered looking screen.

Is this fixable? Should I just assume my laptop's is completely broken?

It will show there as well. It's a common failure and you can find LCDs on amazon, ebay, craigslist and natch, the laptop's maker sites for sale. Figure under 200 to fix.

I'm not sure I understand this answer. You say it's some kind of failure?

But that question means you need to take it to a shop or a friend that repairs such things. I don't want to upset you but my prior answer is not a good one for those that don't know computers.

In this case, you want to get it fixed for you. Figure about 300 to 400 for the repair now.

I've been told it has something to do with the interior monitor and can be repaired like you said, only everyone's cost rate seem to be varying from 100- 400$ at this point. : / 400 being probably about how much I payed for the laptop itself.

Anyway thank you for the replies. I'll have to look into some repair shops.
