When hardware gets old and the cheap fix fails I know of no other way.

It's too bad you didn't write something like "It happens on YouTube" or something like that since I have suggestions for that issue.

But to offer them I don't want to do so unless I see when/why this happens. I gave one example and if it happens on web pages we research "Disable Flash Hardware Acceleration."

You could try other drivers but did you do the first work of replacing the heat sink compound, cleaning heat sink and fans as you do the maintenance?

Some folk treat the machines like bricks. i.e. no maintenance.
