Win 8 apps won't download on my Asus laptop?

Recently purchased ASUS X501A-TH31, Intel i3 running 64-bit WIN 8. I have been unsuccessful in downloading any WIN 8 apps. Is there a pre-loaded ASUS program that is conflicting with these attempts?

I can download apps fine. That's the first step to get apps. Later after that I have to run what I downloaded to install them.

You'll have to tell more.

Hey thanks for the help.
I have tried on several occasions to download a variety of different apps. Each time I get the message that the download "failed". As I tried over several days, I don't think it is related to WIN 8 but instead to a pre-loaded piece of software (ASUS) that is preventing the downloads to continue. Any thoughts?

OK so downloads fail. If you can reveal what preloaded software you think it is, I might know about it. But so far the only thing preloaded that interfered was Norton. Bah. Gone and now working.
